Laura Jowitt: Roof terrace garden
Laura's garden backs onto an old quarry, which she's hoping Ross can incorporate into her dream Manhattan-style roof terrace garden. Laura craves a glamorous city lifestyle and would love a New York style loft apartment, complete with roof terrace. Safe to say, Ross has got his work cut out with this one...

Ross's plan
Ross was quite impressed with the backdrop as it was, clean and organised, and uncluttered enough to create a minimalist New York terrace. The quarry wall acted as a backdrop, with 20 square metres of decking making up the interior part of the design. Containers all the way around the outside acted as a slick east coast American take on terracotta pots.

Once the deck was built, progressively reducing stones formed an intricate spiral in the centre. The floor area was cleared before the decking was put in place, and, in a bold move, Ross proposed a new entrance to the garden via a soon-to-be-built French door.
