Garden Rivals
Anne-Marie Powell

Anne-Marie Powell

Anne-Marie Powell has been immersed in gardening for so long, she was practically born with a good idea for a garden plot in her head...

Anne-Marie Powell is one busy lady. Since 1998, she has been the friendly face fronting a number of garden design-related shows including Channel Four's Garden Doctors, Lost Gardens and Real Gardens; as well as our very own series Take Three Gardeners, in which she designs innovative budget gardens against the clock.

And no wonder she's so busy. Anne-Marie takes her gardening very seriously. Seriously enough to gain her a distinction for her National Certificate in Horticulture Landscape Studies and Garden Design in 1995. She also followed up this course with a City & Guilds examination in Hard Construction (Landscape & Garden).

As well as an accomplished presenter and student, Anne-Marie is a proficient writer and has published her first book on one of her favourite subjects, garden design and build. Called Hardscape, the book covers an extensive range of materials and their uses within the garden and is proving to be popular both here and with our gardening cousins across the pond. Anne-Marie also contributes regularly to Guardian Weekend, Ideal Home and The Observer, as well as Internet sites handbag.com and Crocus.
