New book reveals Britain's bawdiest plants

A new book is hoping to give horticulturists the inspiration to spice up their plant life by providing an introduction to some of the friskiest flora ever potted.

Sacha Langton-Gilks is a garden designer from Dorset who thought that it would be 'a real giggle' to write a book giving gardeners some steamy tips on how to spruce up their borders.

Red Undies and Dutchman's Trousers promises in the subtitle to provide "naughty plants for every occasion" and reveals the names of Britain's most erotic plants.

For instance, she begins by describing the Amorphophallus, saying: "I think the more phallus the merrier with regard to this very generously endowed perennial."

Meanwhile the Begonia Red Undies enjoys "flaunting its blooms among the glorious foliage" while Dutchman's Trousers "look particularly lovely on dykes in a wild setting, something most men like the sound of", the Metro reports.

A stand-up show based on the book will be performed at the forthcoming Royal Horticultural Society show.
