Spring comes early in Wales

Reports of spring flowers blooming in November have added fuel to the argument that UK seasons are being confused by global warming.

Reports of spring flowers blooming in November have added fuel to the argument that UK seasons are being confused by global warming.

Although traditionally a time for holly and mistletoe, daffodils are coming to life in time for Christmas across Wales.

The yellow flowers have been bringing an early splash of colour to the garden in Swansea Museum.

"They came into bloom about a week ago," exhibitions and events officer Roger Gale told the Swansea Evening Post.

"They're in a quiet sheltered spot in the garden at the back of the museum which catches the sun. We've got an amazing crop of dandelions blooming too, it's a wonderful sight.

"We've been here for about five years and it's the first time we've noticed them. No-one here has seen anything like it before."

Flowers including daffodils and lupins have also been springing up across gardens in Southampton, the Southern Daily Echo reports.
