Plant of the Month
June: Cosmos bipinnatus Purity
This month's plant of the month, as selected by our friends at online garden centre, Crocus.co.uk, is the beautiful Cosmos bipinnatus Purity.
This popular, pure white cosmos is a perfect tall filler plant for a sunny, moist but well-drained border. As long as it's dead-headed regularly it will produce a succession of graceful, pure white, saucer-shaped flowers up to 10cm (4in) in diameter from June to October and masses of feathery, mid-green leaves. With an eventual height of about 1.2m and a spread of about 60cm, this Cosmos variety goes well with Dicentra spectabilis 'Stuart Boothman', Saxifraga x urbium, Linum perenne 'Album', Lychnis coronaria, Stachys byzantina and Gysophilia paniculata 'Bristol Fairy'
