Garden Organic, who were known as HDRA (the Henry Doubleday Research Association), are dedicated to promoting organic gardening. As well as working to improve commercial organic growing in Britain, they have created an immense amount of practical information to help anyone garden organically.

Supported by 31,000 members who receive a wide range of benefits (more on these below), they also manage three beautiful display gardens that are open to the public: the charity's headquarters Ryton Organic Gardens, Warwickshire; Yalding Organic Gardens, Kent, and Audley End Organic Kitchen Garden in Essex (in association with English Heritage).

Ryton Organic Gardens is also home to the wonderful Vegetable Kingdom, which offers a fun introduction to Britain's vegetable history, and The Heritage Seed Library that conserves more than 800 old and unusual vegetable varieties.

They also run a Garden Organic for Schools project to help pupils at more than 1,500 schools to grow their own organic vegetables. The charity's Research & Development team also plays a leading role in helping commercial growers across the UK to adopt organic methods.
