Sweet William Noverna Mixed Dianthus
Sweet William (or Dianthus barbatus) is a firm favourite when it comes to creating colour and rich scent in borders. For many gardeners though, there's one major drawback to Sweet William - it's a biennial. In other words you plant it one year but it won't blossom until the following season. But now that is set to change.
A breakthrough in breeding has created a new form of Sweet William called the Noverna Mixed. New on the market this year, Noverna is radically different since you will not have to wait for the flowers. Plant the seeds in spring and you should begin to see flowers within weeks. With regular deadheading they should continue to look stunning from May through to September. Noverna Mixed includes a wide range of colours and the blooms are sweetly scented to give your borders aroma-appeal.
Available in a range of shades from scarlet to white, these beautiful multi-headed flowers grow to about 2 feet (60cm) and continue to keep the garden colourful throughout the summer and into the autumn.
