Weed It & Reap
Weed It & Reap - Hamilton, Scotland
A country garden would be a real asset to this period Victorian property that retains many of its original features. The Weed It & Reap have their work cut out for them...
Scott, Tracey and their two children live in a detached Victorian property in Hamilton. They have just bought their dream home, a four-bedroom Victorian house in Bothwell. As much as they love their house in Hamilton, the children's bedrooms are too small. Depending on renovation work, they are hoping to move into their new home around Easter time.
The house was built in 1873 and has retained many of its original features including sinks, staircases and ceilings. It was originally built for the mining community in Hamilton and was the first house to be built on Portland Park. Scott and Tracey purchased the property for £53,000 in 2001. It was valued in 2002 at £70,000 but this was prior to the renovation of the living room and master bedroom. The couple still have some work to do on the bathroom and kitchen and are therefore hoping to get in the region of £80,000.
The house's previous owners had created a beautiful country garden complete with herb, rose and vegetable garden as well as a pond. However with two young children, the garden was not practical so Scott and Tracey had to cut back a lot of the plants and fill in the pond. They did keep some features such as the fruit trees but now feel that the middle section of the garden is too bland and needs some work before they look to sell their property.
