Innes and Mary started out owning a one-bedroom tenement flat in 2001 and really wanted a two-bedroom flat but could not afford the asking prices. They decided to sell the flat and bought their current house in Scotstoun as an investment. The intention is to renovate the property and sell it on, using the money to buy a two-bedroom flat in the West End, which they are both very keen on.

The couple bought their property in December 2001 for £84,000 as a private sale. They have not had it valued recently as they still have some work to do on the interior, but they are hoping to get over £100,000 for it. The property was built post-war, around the 1940s, and had stayed within the same family line until 1990 when the owner died.

Not much work has been done on the garden since Innes and Mary moved in as they have been concentrating on renovating the interior. The front garden has not been altered at all and the back garden was very unsafe for their young daughter, Olivia. The greenhouse had been removed, as had some of the concrete slabs, which Innes gave to his father for his garden. He also added a swing for Olivia.

Weed It & Reap Checklist:

Front garden
- Paint the fence and front door.

- Post at door and under window.

Back garden
- Lay new turf and shape the lawn.
- Create a new patio area.
- Pressure wash slabs.
- Remove rubbish and turn secluded area into compost heap.
- Screen or paint the shed.
- Remove the washing line.
- Create beds and plant up.
- Trim the conifers.
