Hands on Nature

A showcase to some of the UK's most beautiful natural habitats, Hands on Nature is a stunning series presented by Chris Packham, who admits that filming this show was a project very close to his heart:

"I have a profound interest in getting people off their sofas and into the wilds where they can look at animals, rather than just studying them on the television from afar."

"You have to be able to touch it, see it, smell it and exercise your curiosity. And that's what Hands on Nature is all about."

"Sometimes we're so overwhelmed by TV images of glamorous animals in exotic locations, that we often forget that there's some really beautiful wildlife at the bottom of our gardens" - and that is exactly what makes this show a revelation.

The series kicks off with Chris discovering where to swim with seals and where to get close to puffins, while actor Sean Wilson goes bird watching on the Farne Islands.

There's also fantastic footage of rutting red deer in some of our national parks, a dawn swarm of some of the country's tiniest bats, whale watching off the Scottish coast and some of the UK's top rockpooling spots, uncovered.

If anything is going to inspire you to get off your sofa and venture into the big outdoors, Hands on Nature is in with a very good chance.
