Six of the Best: Hostas
Hostas are gorgeous little perennials that are perfect for shaded or sunny gardens. Tough and easy to look after, they make a wonderful contrast when planted with small-leaved plants and provide deep colour with splashes of bright yellow. And as if their architectural shapes aren’t enough, when planted in bright spots hostas will bear flowers, usually pale blue or white, that grow on tall stalks in early summer. However, just like gardeners, slugs love them too! So here are six of the best hostas that should survive in even the most slug-infested garden.
