Six of the Best Delphiniums
With its slender, supermodel looks, you might find it hard to believe that the delphinium or larkspur is related to the humble buttercup. There are over 250 species found everywhere from northern gardens to tropical Africa and they come in a rainbow of colours from pink and yellow to white and blue. The delphinium's main advantage is its height; at up to two metres tall it looks gorgeous planted in bold clumps for a dramatic statement. It's especially good if you're chasing that classic cottage garden look. But wherever you use it - whether lighting up the garden wall at the back of the flower bed or towering over a vase in your living room - the plant's beautiful flowers will add a strong sense of style.
