Am I the only person who hates chocolate. The taste of it is horrrible even the continental proper chocolate is dreadful. Give me a piece of cheese anyday.

I dunno, hormones maybe.I am beginning to like things that I never liked,ie chilli on a kebab(I know see comfort food, anyway banned till size 12)I nevre have been able to gorge on chocolate,my mother was very controlling as a child,so I guess that stayed with me.The kids on the other hand would eat it all day, they get that from their dad!

This is wierd, I wonder if your taste buds change as you get older. As a kid I loved chocolate but now I don't touch the stuff, like-wise cheese...cheese on toast, pizzas with mozzarella etc but now I can't tollerate it...! Recently went to a pizza restaurant on a shopping trip but found myself trying to sort out the meat from the stringy cheesy bits...what's that all about...!!??

Gotta say reading this was hilarious! I ADORE chocolate. As a Mexican I use it in savory dishes rather than the milky stuff you have on the shelves. As for grapes, my momma used to say a piece of fruit a day...

Hi sunetia. My husband, Keith, loves grapes. He says they keep him regular. Don't you find the quality varies so much? It's hard to find good ones all the time. Keith prefers ones with seeds, he thinks they taste better. When I am buying for him in the supermarket or greengrocer I always taste one first. But when I eat them at home I always wash them. Am I just being over fussy? Oh dear, this subject is Chocolate and now we are on to grapes! Sorry ....

Aya, Karen is so right. If you ever visit Cyprus, go to a kebab house. Now you can go to a tourist taverna if you choose, but the standard is not as good as you can get elsewhere. In my humble opinion, and I have been eating out in Cyprus since 1981, one of the best is Chris's Kebab House on the Akrotiri Strip - definately worth a trip if you are on holiday. Chris's Halloumi is excellent, served hot, slightly soft and marked with the griddle stripes sitting on top of the best Lountza (cured Pork fillet) mmmmmmmmmmmmm. (I believe that Lountza is difficult to get in UK). Now if you go to the villages, say Pera Pedi and The Eucalyptus Taverna, the Halloumi is almost like Feta and has a different texture?

aya try the Halloumi that David mentioned you grill it but it doesn't melt and has the most fantastic flavour which is not too strong. We might convert you.

I sort of agree with you David,I cannot, will not, wont ever eat raw cheese, however I,like you, like pizza but I also like toasted cheese now(it took some pursuasion that one!)Tomatoes are another one,a tomatoe based sauce, ketchup, soup, fine but stick a raw tomatoe on my salad and you wont see me for dust!

Interesting chat. I love chocolate - end of comment! Cheese is a different matter. The thought of cooked cheese makes me reach for a brown paper bag and the smell of a toasted cheese sandwich or cheese and potato pie makes me fill it! However, I love Pizza and haloumi is to die for - mind you I do live in Cyprus. Just wish we could get some decent Mozzarella!

Karen, you can pass them on, no problem, anyway, the way in which I have gone through sweetened mascarpone recently, means that even I am putting chocolate on the back burner, anyone watching the re-runs of the film "Chocolat"? at the moment, really good film, highly recommended, even for non chocoholics.

My husband knows I don't like chocolate. However I can guarantee that at Christmas and birthdays I always get a box of Milk Tray or Terry's All Gold. He then wonders why I don't eat them. I had a box at Christmas and they were still there at Easter and he still buys me them. How do I get through to him? even my children are not that keen and don't eat all of their easter eggs so I can't pass them on.

Louise, mascarpone cheese 250 gms, icing sugar 25 gms, whisk together untill smooth, add a small pkt of well crushed cashews, place this mixture inside profiteroles and cover with melted thick dark chocolate laced with a little amoretto.
