Christmas puddings

Thread Starter: alc28    Started: Fri 05 Sep 2008    Replies: 2

I know this is a bit early to be thinking of christmas but i'm wanting to make my own christmas puddings this year to give out in food hampers which i'm making for friends and family.

I have never made one before and was wondering if anybody had a good tried and tested recipe (maybe one which has been handed down through the family) or maybe a recipe for one which is a bit exotic which i could have, i know there are lots on the internet but as there are so many i don't know which one to chose.

Thanks for any help Big Grin

My Delia pudding is steaming as I type - only 2 hours to go now. Mmm, hadn't thought about feeding it. I am feeding the Christmas Cake once a week though until early December.

I have been making Christmas Puddings for the last three years and I will never go back to buying them because they just taste fantastic.

I always follow Delia's recipie you can find it on this website and then I substitute some of the fruit and candid peel for more exotic fruit like dried pineapple, dried mango - any fruit you really want the more fruiter the better - it does seem that it might take a long time to cook but trust me you will be very happy with the results.

I make my puddings the last weekend in September and feed them with port or sherry once a week until Christmas day.

Good Luck!
