tv food shows

Is it not annoying that the cooks on tv stick to what is fashion and not what is really an adventure of different textures and taste. Cooking is an art. Further there are more countries in Europe than just France, Italy and Spain. By the way, courgette flowers have been in Greek cousine since ancient times, it is not an Italian invention. Get the facts right before you televise them. On the question of food history tv presenters are absolute rubbish. Sorry guys I love watching for ideas but really get the facts right. By the way I commend those that go to the routes, like Gary Rhodes, to find the authentic way of cooking things. Bravo!!! Angry

Here, here, Barshedale. Gary Rhodes is only trying to find the authentic recipe so that he can satisfy his enormous ego by "improving" on centuries old recipes and traditions.

His shows are rubbish.

But Rena's point is well taken, although Greek cuisine is probably one of the few that has remained relatively unchanged over the centuries.

Remember such ingredients as chillies, potatoes, corn, chocolate, squash, pumpkins, tomatoes, etc, etc were totally unknown to Europe and Asia before 1500AD. So any cuisine that uses these has been altered drastically in very recent times. What did the Thais and Indians eat before chillies came? Or the Italians before tomatoes? It makes one wonder.....

Barshedale,
How true. I fully agree with your comment.

Thanks. It seems you agree that traditional food should be kept traditional hundres and in some cases thousands of years of tradition have recently been brushed under the carpet. Being a Greek I like the old traditional food but I also create my own I have never had problems in entertaining my family and friends with my dishes. I love food from all over the world particularly that of the Indian continent. I intergrate the spices in all my cooking. Smile

Then alter them because he doesn't agree with a recipe that could have hundreds of years of history and local developement.
Very Commendable.
