I see we now get Iron Chef from America. A really good programme. How about showing Emeril? Great Chef & great entertainer.
Highly recommended viewing when you are in the States.
Anyone else know of him? Wink

babsky, Emeril still has two shows on the Food Network. It was his original show that was cancelled but only after 11 years, a very very very long run indeed.

He's a great chef, no doubt about it.....but *does* have a bit of the Gary Rhodes problem weaved in. BAM!

Contessa is one of my favourite US cooking shows, as is Lidia's Italy and all of Tyler Florence's shows.

Emeril on UK TV FOOD????

NO THANKS!!!

Emeril "BAM" has got to be the most irritating, self-obssesed chef in US!!! Blurgh

No wonder his show was axed, must be due to a lot of complaints from the awakened viewers of America!!!

I say bring over here The Contessa, Ina Garten (with Geofrrey in tow as her taster!! Big Grin ) to counter balance the egotistical & overhyped overrated "chefs" whose omnipresence on UKTV Food Channel is gone past nauseating...and they know who they are!!!

Rachel Ray is on both The Hallmark Channel and Diva tv. However although there is a cooking slot on it there is a lot of chat with guests too.

ooops, sorry everyone I meant to post my response on this thread...

I'd have to say that, after watching a wide variety of food programmes, with a few notable exceptions the American productions seem far better than recent British offerings.

The US shows seem to focus more on the actual food than gimmickery, Market Kitchen being one of the worst offenders.

It would be great if the programmers-that-be would give a look at some of the programmes being produced over there and give the channel just a bit more variety and less repetition.

Emeril is fabulous!!! A great chef and a great TV series, too. Prolific.

But my favourite is Bobby Flay. He has several series but the barbecue one is out of this world. My friend records it and sends it to me from Canada. The recipes are here [link]

Flay's series would be a welcome addition to a reinvigorated UKTVFood.....anything but Market Kitchen, pleeeeeeaaaazzzzz. Angry

Or what about Lidia's Italy?? Great recipes - from authentic to creative - all easily done in your home kitchen. [link]

She never has to resort to chervil roots, rattlesnake, foie gras or even squirrel to make three great, economical, delicious Italian dishes in each 30 minute episode.

Yes, indeed. I have several of his DVDs. He is the prototype for Elzar in the cartoon Futurama!

A great chef, he's been on the US Food Network now for over ten years so there are hundreds of episodes they could air.

This is just another example of the dead-head approach to programming on UKTVFood. There are literally hundreds of cooking shows available worldwide that could be aired rather than showing these same old, same old over-repeated programmes.

Emeril would be terrific!

Here's his website with over 2300 of his more popular recipes [link]
