Does anyone know where I might be able to purchase a tin for preparing American popovers - sort of like deeper muffn pans?

Glad I could help anne - I had hoped to find a cheaper option, but they don't seem to have caught on in the UK.

Afraid so, annethered. There's always a downside!

Thanks jannymac they are exactly the ones i wanted but I take it you are talking about amazon.com? Shipping will be fairly prohibitive :-(

You might want to have a look on Amazon. There were popover pans made (I think) by Chicago Gourmetware. They were similar ones to those used on Barefoot Contressa.

They deliver quickly too, which is a bonus.

On reflection, the silicon ones are probably a better buy, in so far as removing the cakes anyway.

Some cheaper ones here:-
