Ina and Nigella use the same food stylist to take the photos for their latest books, and feasts was made by the food network, but i cant really see the resemblance between Ina and Nigella. im a huge nigella fan, but Ina has taken her place imho as my no1 favourite tv cook/chef.
I feel inspired whenever i watch ina cook

I think it's perhaps because they both cook in such a relaxed manner , and it's as if you are a guest in their home leaning on the kitchen counter . Also , they both cook with lots of cream and chocolate .
I like the Barefoot Contessa and her shows better than Nigella's , I also prefer her recipies , they always make me feel hungry .

That's very interesting Suzzy_Q as I can't see any similarity at all between those two shows. Where did you read that and did they explain in more detail what they meant by "styled her show". I'm actually not clear what Nigella's style really is for that matter.

I read recently that Ina had styled her show after Nigella's show Nigella Bites. SHe agreed to do the Barefoot OCntessa as long as she could film it in Nigella's style.

I have purchased all Ina Garten's cookery books. They are fab. For me too, she is now the best person to watch on UKTV Food since Jenny left. I know her recipes aren't for the health conscious, but they are wonderful and always turn out the way they look in the programme and the cookery books. She is definitely the American Nigella/Delia equivalent.

No, its special occasion food, though her roast chicken receipe is hardly high fat, or her noodles with brocolli, i think you can pick and choose, anyway i love her

I like watching this show and Ina is quite a character. But her recipes!!!!!! She puts way too much salt in everything .. and as for the fat and sugar content.... healthy eating it certainly is not.

i love this show, its taken over as my number 1 unmissable show, i would now rather watch ina than nigella

Anna, you should see that part of America! EVERY House is like hers! It's quite fantastic.
Her recipes too are certainly "rich", aren't they!

she clearly has more money than God, based on that house and all the little gourmet shops she can afford to shop in
her peanut butter and jelly bars looked brillliant from today's episode, but a 1/2 pound of butter???!!! my GP would kill me if the bars didn't

They are such a cute couple..i just love them!
They have no children.
There's a great & long write-up about Ina Garten on Wikipedia that I've read a while ago..worth checking out.
I want to go on holiday to East Hampton just to see the shops she goes to & maybe a drive in front their house just to see if it's as gorgeous as it is on tv!!

It was nice to see Jeffrey today, he is a cuddly little thing. It's so nice to see them together again, as he is away all week with work. Do they have any kids? The mousse was great, but I think there was to many ingredients in it.

No, the Contessa's recipes are not for the faint at heart! That's why they are soooo good
Everyting she prepares that I've tried has been simply delicious, but probably because of the fat and sugar
Her book is indeed splendid, isn't it.
Sorry Jennifer that you are on a regime currently
Look to some of Contessa's summery fruit dishes on the show...those are OK {I think}

I have "The Barefoot Contessa At Home" which I can recommend. It is a lovely book, and full of snippets of information and bits about her home and surroundings.
I do love her programmes but they aren't for the health conscious are they? We are on a healthy eating stint at the moment, ready for a holiday to New England in October. Must watch out for her books in the stores there.

Yes Nigella is back
!! but i also love the barefoot contessa, another cookbook addict here, at the moment, just over 500 and counting lol, my husband has given up lol, he has his collection of cds though so thats cool
I would recommend all of inas books, they are all fabulous.
Im so naughty, i just got a friend who lives in america to buy inas boxset of dvds of her series which was on sale 75% off on the food network site, and post them to me, so i can watch, even if uktv food stop showing her for a while, though i hope not !!

Yay, new Nigella! Winderful.
I too have far too many cookbooks and reams of recipes stuck in little folders everywhere. Some reainy days I just love to read through cookbooks. It's addifctive.
But I do not like cookbooks without photos.
I too really love to watch Barefoot Contessa. A great TV program in many ways but her way of making recipes sound so simple is a real talent. I know there is awlways editing, but she's always so calm sounding. Brilliant show.

Is there a new Nigella? What is it and when is it out?
I also love buying cook books - I rarely actually follow recipes but take inspiration from them but Nigella is one that I do actuallu alomost folow sometimes.

large clothes allow Freedom of movement and they are airy - avoid over heating.
cookbooks - once my husband banned me from ordering any more books I got around the problem by starting a Cook Book book club (we were on a posting abroad)where a person purchases the a book for every member and hosts a dinner using the recipes from the book. We had great fun doing this. I M INCORRIGIBLE.

No that is not feasible. I said before she just likes wearing big blouses and trousers to hide her figure.

I'll have to admit to the same . I adore cookbooks , I even had to thin some out the other week , took them to the donkey and dog sanctuary for them to sell . Then I went out to a second hand book shop , and could'nt resist yet another beautiful french cookbook with fantastic full colour picies !
Trouble with cook books , they make you hungry just flicking through them , let alone when you actually start to cook .
Perhaps she wears mostly the same clothes because the programmes might be filmed the same time , would that be feasible ?
I do enjoy watching her .
