What is soured cream? Can't find it in my supermarket and was wondering if i could substitute it with something else? Thanks

I have added lemon juice to double cream or whipping cream, mixed it in and left it to stand for a few hours. The cream thickens with time and is 'soured' by the citrus

I've used creme fraiche as a substitute as well - but make sure it isn't the reduced fat kind!

Soured cream is cream that has been treated with a culture. You can substitute it with double cream with some lemon juice added.
