I must agree with the prior poster and indeed most of the comments on this thread. I have watched the programme on and off now for what seems years hoping that I would become accustomed to it or that it would improve somehow.

It hasn’t happened, in fact it’s harder to watch now than ever. The presenters would never have been hired for any other TV programme, so it’s not clear why they are on this show – particularly the royal person and Gordon Ramsey’s wife.

The inane comments such as “the foie gras increases the sense of duckiness” make me cringe. And the venue is a poor man's F word kitchen, does anyone notice the similarity between these two shows? Who are the clueless people milling around making so much noise you can’t hear the chef. They all seem to be gazing aimlessly when caught unawares by the dreadful camera work. Even more irritating is the obvious autocue reading although Fort has learnt to squint so that you can’t see him doing it. And PLEASE, those silly staged questions from the people hanging around!?

All the meal ideas so far are boring and certainly don't compare to GFL. It seems that good old Gordon Ramsay may have shares in this venture as so many of the guests like Sarge [who is equally boring and lifeless] happens to run GR's restaurant.

This programme simply doesn’t keep my attention and I found myself reading the TV listings which obviously had more appeal! I can't understand the logic of getting rid of a programme with great format, presenter and great guest chefs in favour of this amateur totally rubbish programme.

How can UKTV food really afford to ditch GFL, their flagship programme? I think they have totally got it wrong as they did with Food Uncut although they persisted with that until they had to bring back GFL extra again.

Please Please bring back Jeni.

Truer words never spoken! Not even that horrible Rhodes India show got this amount of negative commentary.

Comments on this new season MK seems to be the same as the other season, unsurprisingly. Same show, same comments. Only the posters are different. As per the above.

Never has a television programme ever created such an outpouring of critique and criticism. It's amazing how many aspects of the program are disliked, from the presenters to the format to the set to the chefs to the recipes.

Only time will tell, I suppose.

Billy2blues....I emailed Waitrose and got the same sort of 'watch it you will learn to love it' response that you get from Caroline at UKTV. It seems that they just don't get it!!! Confused

BARB statistics are poor for MK.

The first episode, which everyone would have been interested in, scored number one in the Top 10.

There was no other MK episode in the Top 10 on UKTV Food.

This is not a good sign for a new daily series.

In the same week's Top 10, Naked Chef appeared four times, Rick Stein twice and Saturday Kitchen Twice.

No episode of MK apart from the first were in the Top 10.

This suggests a huge drop off in viewers for MK.

Dear UKTV Food,

Please, please open your eyes and minds to the (up till now) loyal viewers who are taking the trouble to write message board comments and send correspondence to your 'contact us' address about the unbearable rubbish that is Market Kitchen.

It really shouldn't matter whether or not you have presenters and guests under contract - cancel the contacts and pay them off as soon as you can, trust me in this, - it will be cheaper in the long run! Do not keep broadcasting Market Kitchen until you think you have something better to replace it with, or just might find you have no viewers left. If I was an advertiser I certainly wouldn't be paying good money to advertise during this programme because hardly a soul would see the adverts!

How many times do you need to be told this programme is unbearable, unwatchable rubbish, and that the people you have presenting this are as wooden as planks but not quite as interesting.

Market Kitchen should have 'NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE' stamped across and it be consigned to the dustbin. Do the decent thing and put Market Kitchen and us out of our misery - NOW!

11.33pm. Fri 04/05/07 I've just received three emails telling me that three people have just posted to this page. Where are they? Wouldn't it be a logical assumption to think that if someone has JUST posted then it should be the 'newest' post? Today is Fri 4th May at 11.33pm and the latest post shown is dated Wed 2nd May 9.25 pm from Rosie. Come on!!

Hi,

I just registered having watched Market Kitchen for the third time just to see if it had improved and the answer was not one iota. I watch very little TV and GFL was refreshingly interesting and professional. The amateur nature of the camera work and presentation on MK is unbelievable. When a chef is showing how to remove a scallop from a shell I would expect the camera to show this and not for the scallop to be tipped away from the camera!

Anyway rant over, I don't seem to be on my own in my feelings!

When I am emailed by the programme moderators (I can only presume it is they!) that no less than ten persons have posted to this MK site (33374), that when I click on the newest post link I keep getting the same posting which also shows a different time of posting to that given in the email. Confused??? I am beginning to think that the message board designers have deliberately created the mysterious telephone in the cupboard at the end of the corridor down which nobody ever goes. To my mind there is little point in contributing to this message forum until there is a grown-up conferencing facility installed - after all folks, how easy can it be for so many other web site organisers. Perhaps future complaints should be made directly to Waitrose who, while this incoherent system of communication continues, are certainly not being shown in a favourable way. May I suggest that the programme designers postpone this message board until a workable format can be installed - but perhaps I am asking the wrong people - would that be the same people who seem content to ignore their viewers comments , many of which have been very positive. Angry Confused (anyone know Waitrose marketing department's email address?) Wink

I'll refer you back to your statement to which I responded,"Some of you people need to find something to do with your lives as obviously, judging by the amount of entries you put on here weekly there is nothing going on in your lives that is even slightly exciting."
- and you took offense to MY retort.
I'll leave my message short as Iwould hateto keep you from your busy productive day. Smile

La Isla, I can't believe that you just said that. I have just come back on the site to see whether people have responded to find that you say i need to get a life for my first response since MK started and because i watch a programme that you don't like. Well I obviously need more of a life than some one who responds on this site three times in one day after dinner. Life, me yes, you no.

You can't get a more boring progamme than MK so therefore I congratulate you. So much so that I can't watch it for more than 10 minutes at a time!

By the way, all my other message have been deleted!

Every recipe has been so basic that it's embarrassing!!!!!

Since UKTVFood is full of repeats you're going to have to come up with something better than MK and let's face it it's not too difficult!

Suggest you all head over to the GFL message board - there is an official update by the people at UKTV Food posted a few minutes ago....it seems they "do" listen to our likes and dislikes after all!
Thankfully they are not going to delete the recipes and video clips from GFL, which is more than can said about some post's that appear to go "missing"!!

Such an exciting life GP? Then what the hell are you doing on this site.
Moreover, whilst the vast majority of dissatisfied viewers have turned off and are doing important things(personally, as a teacher) - you are still tuning into the show. Who needs to get a life?????

I know i'm part of a minority on this thread, but I really like the new progamme. The cafe looks nice and fresh and although i agree the some of the presenters are coming across as wooden, it is the first outing for some and i feel they need to be given more time. If i was one of the presenters i would be finding it very hard to relax into the role if i had been stupid enough to read this message board.

Some of you people need to find something to do with your lives as obviously, judging by the amount of entries you put on here weekly there is nothing going on in your lives that is even slightly exciting.

I though Bryn came across as quite a cheeky chappy and I certainly wouldn't class him as B-class.

And just to refresh the memories of any of you who are life long uktv food watchers (thats me included) people hated GFL when it first started and I can tell you that as a FACT.

Finally, after reading earlier messages I feel I must also say that I am not working for uktv food, or Optomen or whoever, but I am actually just a viewer who likes to watch MK (we do exist) bu i have more to be doing than coming on here every day saying how much i like the show. That would just be a waste of my time (just like this is).

Thank you Big Grin

I have read all the posts and feel really let down by UKTVFOOD that they can not come forward and say something - I know that this series will probably have to run its course because they have pre recorded it and spent their money in doing so - but please can some one have the decency of just saying enough is enough and tell us that they made a mistake and that GFL will be back in a few weeks after Jeni has had a small break. That is all we nead to hear. Could someone in UKTVFOOD please just try to see what GFL loyal fans are trying to tell you - and it is not just in this country it is watched in Australia and Europe, you have upset so many people. This is a plea from the heart - I miss all those lovely people who appeared on GFL - that was called entertaining with imformation! Please give us some good news. I still dont see why GFL cant be telivised as well if you must keep Market Kitchen., run them both then you wont upset anyone>

Just reviewing the bored (sp intentional) at a more leisurly pace and it seems clear that (We) moaners are unanimous in our descision on MK. The rest (0% posts that I can see but please correct me) dont want to comment. Obviously UKTV have to run the series (I'll be cleaning my dish washer). Lets hope we hear from them that they have new plans. P.

Well I was going to be ultra polite but it seems most of the known universe has been here before me but my 2 penne'th .... MK has the atmosphere of a doctors waiting room. There is nothing going on that you expect will be positive. If 10yr old repeats of RS cook become more interesting then.... well The thread seems to be that negative posts are disappearing. lets see shall we.

Why did this message not post!!
Hello Every1.....this is my first post. I had been a fan of UKTVfood for a number of years and had always looked forward to GFL. I was upset to hear it wasnt going to be on anymore, but the new programme - market kitchen looked ok from the ads and waitrose was involved (my fav supermarket) so i assumed it would be ok....eventhough i knew i would miss jenni...

I have given this programme over 2 weeks to impress me- to make me want to hurry up in the kitchen so i can sit down and enjoy my daily dose of cooking and banter- but alas......how dissapointed have i been. The first show was quite uncomfortable to watch, very wooden, rushed and nervous. I still however kept with it ......just to see if it got better. I found myself not bothering to finish in the kitchen- so missing half of it....or flicking over halfway through. As the first week finished i concluded that Tana and Matt had no chemistry on screen and did not present well together. It did not work. I thought that i should hold on for a little longer to see what the other 2 are like. So i watched the second week. Ok - Yes there was a little improvement as far as presenting goes - but it still lacked any enjoyment that I once had when watching GFL.

After watching yesterday i have come to a conclusion as to why i can't get into it. It just doesnt insipre me. GFL used to insipre me to cook, to experiment. I loved all the different chefs, their characters and recipes- and of course jenni. Looking forward to the change in theme every day. MK just does not have that. Its like a robot. The presenters- (who are not to blame in my opinion ...well entirely) are so rehexxxxd- there is no spontinaity that the live show used to bring.

I have never been compelled to post here before. But I felt that i had to let you know......UKFOOD TEAM ...that i have never felt so let down by a programme before. I agree with many of the comments other posters have made. But i wonder if you will listen to us.....your ever dwindling away viewers?
I miss Jenni..........................................

p.s. i hope my message gets posted- this is my 1st post!

what have i done to deserve this torture?.MK has got worse - if that's at all possible.
granted, TPB and Matt T are a better bet than Tana Ramsay, who gives 'wooden' a whole new meaning. Did the makers of this program truly believe that a pretty face and enviable figure would be enough to keep us decerning viewers tuning in for an hour and a half every bloody day?.
ENOUGH!!!!!
I shall be voting with my feet on this one - and vow to never watch this drivel again.
What a waste of airtime!!! Mad Confused Angry

I feel so let down! This programme just doesn't inspire me at all. Have tried to watch it, but the robotic presentation makes me turn over within 5 minutes . The trouble is its not only this show, but UKTV is full of repeats of programmes I've watched loads of time. I find myself no longer watching this channel and it makes me feel SAD!!!!!! Cry
