I'm sure there'll be more to the show than just Tana! Give it a chance, you never know. Do you always cook the same thing or do you try something new. Apply the same to your t.v. watching and you might just get some fresh tastes Big Grin

Sorry rephrase that, I typed it out incorrect, it would not be as popular!

We know you do not like Jenni, but I bet it would be as popular as GFL, Glynpaul,Tana has not the makings of Jenni! Mad

I really like the sound of Market Kitchen, it's time for something new, Tana apparently is on there to be a reflection of the home cook, which I think is a good angle and Tom Parker-Bowles has a nice different take on things with his trek around the world. I think we should all wait and see, I have to admit i'm a little exciterd about the whole thing.

Maybe she will do another of that ITV series she did with Gino last year?

I'm looking forward to the new programme. I don't have a problem with Tana at all. How talented a cook she is (if that's what she's on the programme to do) we will no doubt find out, but as she will be the main presenter (I believe) her talents may lie in that area.

Tom Parker-Bowles is an absolute joy! I thoroughly enjoy reading what he has to say about food so I'm really looking forward to seeing him. As far as Clarissa Dickson-Wright is concerned, I can take her or leave her. She wouldn't make me turn off though. Smile

I'm know there are lots of threads on here about GFL going, but maybe, just maybe, it was Jeni herself who decided enough is enough? Just a thought... Smile

is anyone else wondering exactly why Tana Ramsay is appearing on the GFL replacement show?. As far as I am aware, her claim to fame is a famous husband and some rather uninspiring recipes for vegetable flavoured ice cream!!!!!! Confused

Thank God she's not on there she completely ruins the show with her facts in the middle of the chef trying to talk about his/her recipe and here she comes blah blah blah. You can see the chefs getting annoyed in their eyes, give her a chat show not a cooking show.

GFL is definitely being replaced in April with The Market Kitchen - its official. No Jeni tho. I am absolutely horrified but there's nothing we can do about it. Angry Angry Angry

The only thing really worth watching is GFL where Jenni creates exactly the right atmosphere, the programme is fun as well as informative. It is a very big mistake to axe this programme, after all the rest of the schedule is mostly repeats!

Yea for London lets have more London London London!!! There's not enough of it on tv..........

GFL is going because the prod company fell out with the BBC (who have something to do with uktv) its also something to do with Saturday Kitchen going to ITV tangled web and all that.

Got it from the horse's mouth on New Years Day (horses mouth being a lovely chef from the show)

Love to all and Happy New Year (life exists beyond the M25 if anyone cares to look) xx

Have just read about the new prog. Looks like a great idea, time we all moved on, it is good to challenge established practices. After all, where would we cooks be if we never adapted or created a new recipe from an existing format? I will miss Jenni though! Perhaps we can have a farewell party Amanda??

Well at least I can now cancel my Sky subscription - Jenni and GFL was about the only reason left to make it worthwhile paying for the extra channels, so thanks UKTV for saving me money! My weeknights will never be the same again, and I shall miss the fun and frolics and all of those double entendres. And the food of course.

At least give it a chance to be aired. Angry
Look at all the fuss when "Uncut" replaced GFB and now the axe has fallen, all the posts about. What a shame, loved it, will miss it etc. Perhaps it will be London based but may still cover the whole country. Bouough Market may only be the set, studio.
Why not just wait and see. It might actually be OK!

Not much looking forward to the new set up either, with a show even more biased, sorry based, in London and all the site changes and restrictions, posts edited or deleted without explanation. Certainly the website hits must have fallen, apart from nominating and voting on the Local Hero thingy. Such little response to posts about programs and the website from UKTVFood and GFL. All the repeats that get higher viewing ratings than the new and live shows, .......... interest is definitely waning from this direction.

Yes agree with the above..should be called the London Market Kitchen! I for one am sick to death of food shows centering on London..there is life beyond the Capital...
The presenters don't impress either, apart from the lovely Simon Rimmer. Can't stand Clarissa(she is so rude about vegetarians!) Tana (not any more of the Ramsay clan...PLEASE) and Tom Parker Bowles//well enough said.
Rant Over!

I agree - I shall miss GFL and Jeni. I just hope the new show caters for viewers that don't live in or near London and the market they are featuring.

what a huge mistake!!!. I watch the show for Jeni in the mai and hate it whe she is on holiday or away for a show. In fact, I switch off!!!!
WHY WHY WHY would you take Jeni off our screens. Word of warning - WATCH YOU VIEWING FIGURES SLIDE UKTV FOOD

This will bring the market and its traders into many homes, this will probably have a knock on effect where more people will visit the market, which in turn will help the traders.

Wonder where Jeni will end up !

Cry Doesn't look like a lot worth watching on the new show, apart from Simon Rimmer. Like most of UKTV Food's schedule to me this year.

Sorry Paul Moreton, I personally think it's a mistake to replace Jeni and the Great Food Live format, Clarissa Dickson-Wright and Tana Ramsay just don't have the same appeal to me. They are why I have watched GFL and the channel since it launched 5 years ago. Ah well, there are loads of other channels on Sky, I'm sure I'll find something else to watch.
