Rest assured the blank look was Tesco Disease. Veg suet has been around for years (and much more preferable to beef, surely, even if you're not veggie!). I've seen Lidl's quite often in Spain, maybe a good place to try? If not, this may be the price you pay for living in a beautiful place like Cordoba!

I have to admit I used a AWT recipe - they were nice

Have put on 5lbs since I ate them so won't be doing those too often!

Hey I am impressed....made your own with olive oil and flour! That sounds a way healthier option than suet! Were they nice? Do you have the recipe? Where abouts in spain are you?

Vegetarian suet is sold in all the major supermarkets. Might have just been the girl in the shop knows nothing about cooking!

Thanks for the offer. I got round it by making them with flour and olive oil. Not something I make very oftern either but came accross a recipe which had them in it and had to make it!

My daughter actually tried to get V. suet in the UK (Tescos) for me and the girl looked at her blankly, she had no idea what it was.

I can get Suet in one of the shops here in Alhaurin...can't remember which one!!! ERMMM Think it is a shop called Freezermor - are you near Alhaurin? Or if it helps I am going to Gib either next weekend or this weekend I could get some and send it to you. I got some of the Veg Suet when I was there the other week to make some dumplings,,,,,yummy! Not something I have very often but sometimes that comfort is needed.
