Can anyone tell me how to make cheese pie served at school dinners in the sixties please?

Remember my daughter used to love it,I made one some time ago but used a quiche dish lined then topped the filling with puff pastry & she commented that it tasted just like school one(many years ago)she is now 36yrs old.So maybe it was the pastry that made the difference Annie. Smile

I remember it! Eek I absolutely dreaded school dinners if this was on the menu - I just hate cheese and the dining room used to stink to high heaven! Big Grin

Of course every cheese eater loved it, I mean really loved it, my brothers and my OH still talk about it now. The one served in my school didn't have potatoes in it annie - it was pastry with the fluffy cheese 'stuff' in it.

Saying that, I've no idea how it was made, but I bet even if you did get a recipe it wouldn't taste anything like it used to. Smile

Good luck though.

Thanks for your reply Rosti, all I can remember about the cheese pie was that it was very light and very cheesy. I have looked at the link but most of the others sharing the same liking of school cheese pie contained tomatoes, this did not.
I can't think whether it contained potatoes, I don't think so as it was really light.

I was at school in the 60's but can't remember that we had cheese pie, can you give more of an idea of what it was like?

Have a look here to see if it helps. [link]
