Does anyone know how to make a curry sauce similar to one you would buy from a Chinese take-away?

Try mail order or internet shopping for specialist ingredients!
Chinese takeaways often use the concentrated sauces themselves, so they're prob the best bet!!
hope that helps Smile Smile

Thanks very much for your comments! The only problem we have is we don't live near a big town, but next time I am shopping in a big town/city I shall be looking for Chinese supermarkets!

I normally buy a tub of concentrated curry sauce from the chinese super market, and all you have to do is add hot water and heat it up until its thick. It taste the same as the one you but from the chinese take-away. lovely Smile

Wing Yip do a curry sauce paste (concentrate) which you just add water to. Tastes pretty authentic and you can make it as thick or thin as you please. I bought it in Sainsbury's but you could get it in any Chinese supermarket.

I didn't think I would get replys this quickly, thanks you two. I am going to give that recipe a go at the weekend. The Mayflower brand keeps appearing and then disappearing from our local supermarket so when I see it again I will give that a go too. I have tried to make my daughter find a boyfriend that work's in a chinese takeaway so she can get hold of a recipe but no luck yet!!! You can buy lots of Indian Curry sauce mixes etc but not chinese. Smile

I love the Mayflower brand Chinese style curry sauce from the freezer. It's so delicious I wouldn't bother making my own. Smile
