Sorry Mosey..I wasn't aware of that. We had a "follow-up" programme the other evening which showed some of the work behind the scenes of the Big Dinner! It all went very well and the Chefs were well chuffed and met all the Dignitaries in a line. people made comments throughout about the food and all the dishes were popular.
The Queen made some humourous remark in her speech about never having a lunch as a cookery competition before but she did hear there were no Penalty Shootouts!
Anyway I hope you get the prog, there was a lot of repetition in it but was a good finish to the series.
I still think James Rankins pudding was the best though!!

The follow up was last night...did you miss it? mind you it was the usual stuff repeated not a lot of original bits.
Richard Corrigon looked SO chuffed he was a joy to watch.
I agree about Galton..I kept expecting him to stamp his foot and have a "proper little tantrum" dreadful..

So what did you all think of the winners - I was delighted! Can't say much for Galton, he came over a little 'spoilt boy' for not winning his different heats. (very sorry for himself)
Now what I would like is a follow up programme with the 4 chefs telling how it was on the day and how it all went off! Cheeky

Starter....broth & dumplings
Main course...ham shank,mashed spuds,pease pudding & beetroot.
Dessert.....Jelly & custard.
washed down with a nice cuppa tea.
Now what would your menu be? Big Grin

At a medieval banquet they could just all dive in have wenches pour the wine and dogs under the table and even a custard pie in the face , food fight like on the Carry on Films, Smile

Hi Spangled, I'm new to this forum (a bit slow I'm afraid)
I still think the boars head could have worked, plonk it in the middle with some drumsticks and leave em to it. Anyway, my nan prefers a good old buffet, where she can be all feeble and make my son get all the food for her. Its my experience that once nannies get past 79 they like a good moan, so egg and chips would be fine. Big Grin

I don't know....there are so many talented chefs out there, it would have been nice if the menus could have been integrated with all the dishes. Then maybe everyone could be happy? Anyway, its only a four course meal! If I were the Queen, 80th birthday and all, I would have liked a banquet Big Grin Do it old style, in style...Boars head, Swan etc... Hug

and when she pretends to know what shes talking about. also when they talk about the fab food that atul kotcchar cooks, and thye don't think its british food!! it is very deifinaltly british food. i just hope the menu comes from him.

It really bugs me when she tries to say what the Queen eats at 'home'. Surely if she wanted same old same old, there would be no need for this programme. Its just a shame that the judges seem to think that the best food is the 'old' food. Why not be exciting and new like Simon Rimmer, I would have liked him to go through. I thought that his dishes would have wowed enough, but no. They went and chose the tried and tested 'Classically trained' one AGAIN. What is wrong with these people. Mad Angry Confused
