Well, I think that if you felt comfortable, it probably showed, and that is what you want. Fitting into a place instantly really helps i think, just one more thing that you don't have to worry about in a new job! Good luck.

I used to go into homeless hostels in the East End when I was working there - I was a community physiotherapist. I think it was one f the most rewarding things I've ever done. I hope you get it , good luck hun Hug

thanks for all your good wishes everyone Hug

just a quickie, i "think" the interview went ok, i was asked to write a menu out for 5 days main/including a veggie alternative and a pud, no problem there cos after the interview i was taken down to the kitchen to meet sue who (if i get the job will be taking over from) and everything on my menu was the right stuff Big Grin

was given a few scenarios as to if there was a fight/argument between peeps etc how would i cope, told them i'd try to diffuse the argument first, but if it was really bad or couldn't calm the situation down i'd call the management Smile

was asked other similar questions and answered in a similar way Wink after all i am there to cook not be a nanny or a councilllor (sp) Wink

wore jeans and a top in the end cos when i tried on my suits they were too small and i couldn't do the buttons up on the trousers Confused Cry Cry (i explained that for the last 2 years i have been sat on me jacksy doing nowt (apart from cooking) since i left my last job so the inches have spread to my tum and bum and nothing fits anymore Cry Cry Cry they were fine about it cos they were wearing jeans and said its not a fashion parade here Wink

if i'm a sucessful candidate to the second interview (this friday i should know) i will have to go in and cook a meal for 40+ peeps Eek and that will be the deciding factor, so fingers crossed my beloved friends Hug

I would go for the trousers, my suit is a trouser suit anyway.
Best of luck kid. Sounds really worthwhile.

thanks rosti

right so is it a skirt or trousers? Smile

I would always go for smart, cos they will know you can dress down. If you go for jeans and jumper they might wonder if you have anything better if needed.

I dunno, I wore a suit for my last interview, but we are getting ppl come in wearing jeans now.

Maybe try for middle ground, smart trousers and a jumper?

Good Luck Tina!

I've found interviews have changed over the years - mostly they tend to be more like a friendly chat these days than the very formal affair they used to be when I first started work 20 years ago.
