Rosti, what a good question why wouldn't it indeed! I don't actually think I said it would not work well as I have never used it.

It would be interesting to do a comparison though. Must give it a go!!!

I never use absorbic acid to make this bread you just dont need it.

Go buy Pauls book it has a load more recipes that are fun to do and easier than the recipes that you are reading by the sound of it.

I see you can buy ciabatta breadmix now I wonder if it works (lol)

The recipe in my book has none, the one up top there was from the show I think, that may have, but the point is you do not need it...or olive oil thats an anglosised recipe. Embarrassed

I use a teaspoon of lemon juice [bottled is fine] in any bread recipe requiring vit C tablet, because as has already been said, they all seem to be flavoured and effervescent!

Paul - your recipe lists ascorbic acid so why are you now suggesting not to use it? Wink Big Grin

Can think slight problem if you buy Vit C for consumption to use in a recipe - they are usually all fruit flavoured to make more palatable! Prob not what you want in your recipe?
Ascorbic acid - Boots won't sell - years since I bought any and they would then maybe been caught in another EU regulation?

Come to think of it, Boots is probably your best bet [link]

You chemist said they wouldn't sell vitimin C tablets to you? Go to a supermarket instead then, or healthfood shop, try Holland and Barrett.

Yes Thanks, we tried that and the chemist said they were not able to sell it to me?

Ascorbic acid is vitimin C, ask at your local chemist.
