I have attended this event for many years now.
If it is your first time, I would recommend that you wear comfortable shoes, as the place is carpeted .
You can purchase a wine glass to sample many drinks, a word of warning dont forget if you are driving to spit and not swallow. i have seen many people being escorted from the place !!!!
Most of the chefs will have a book or two for you to buy, and they will sign them for you, but be prepared for a wait of an hour to get a book signed.
over the years I have seen that many smaller traders have dissappeared.

thanks mary for putting the link up
i tell you its going to cost me over £300 if i go, i have my kids that weekend and would love to take them, but £70 odd for the train and £130 accomodation and anything on top of that like taxis and food for the return journey, its a lot of money and thats not including the entrance tickets and some of the shows
too near xmas for that kind of expense, we'd have to stay overnight too cos of the trains, i'm gutted

I saw Jamie Oliver and Gary Rhodes in the big theatre. But I went to demonstrations by Ross Burden, Brian Turner, Leslie Waters, Tony Tobin .... and several others. They were just demos going on on various exhibitors' stands. It is such a great day out for a foodie.
Crowded? Yes!
We stayed in a B&B which I found on the internet; they offered free lifts to the NEC. Yes, buy the glass and have a great day.

Only been to the one in London (several times) and my advice is: don't drive as you will be drinking, don't eat as you will be tasting all day and do buy the wine glass as yes you can drink all day! Have fun - it's great!

We are going on Thursday 24th and have an early appointment with the man himself, Mr Ramsey, cant wait!!!
People at work have told me that you buy a glass when you go in and its yours to sample what you fancy throughout the day.

I am first timer, apart from the crowd sizes tell me the things to look for, things to do/ not to do, basically any tips to make it an enjoyable day out.
By the way, is it wise not to drive in case I get tempted to try a small drink!!

I love it too. Been twice before but the thing I hate most are the crowds. I think they should limit the amount of people they let in.
