Help needed please!

Thread Starter: Snowy43    Started: Wed 24 Aug 2005    Replies: 7

I made a coffee sandwich cake this morning using a recipe recommended by someone on another site. It was a disaster!! What can I do with 2 broken up coffee sandwich cakes please? OH says to give them to the birds, but am loth to do that as there's good ingredients in them!! Had to quickly make my usual Delia's coffee walnut cake which came out fine.
Thanks.

Thank you all for your ideas. Have enough cake to make a tiramisu, try chef's orange surprise and eat some with ice cream!

Maybe you could some sort of tirimisu, instead of the spong fingers use the coffee sponge.

Make truffles.
Equal quantities of your cake crumbs, caster sugar and ground almonds, bind together with alcohol such as rum, sherry or tai maria would be nice plus a bit of apricot jam .
Make into bit size balls or bigger for cakes and roll in chocolate vermicelli

Have it with icecream....I did this once when I thought I was a budding baker! The ice cream soaks loverly into the sponge!

Hi Snowy. Happens to us all at some time or other! Try breaking the offending cake into individual bowls, pour on some orange liquer, top with some orange segments and top them with some whipped cream. Call it Choccy Orange Surprise! Smile
