Can anybody help. Have started my voderman 4 week detox in preparation for summer hols. Very strict on no alcohol, not meat and no dairy.

I'm fine with breakfast as I love museli and yoghurt (soya of course), but it's lunch at work (we do have a fridge and a microwave) and evening meal which is starting to get a bit dull. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Just watch the nuts, even though they are very good for you, they also contain loads of calories

Well, I can see what you mean, but it's only for 2 weeks out of 12.

My mom is round for dinner tonight and I am also having tuna, excellent. In this day and age everything is bad for you one week, and then good for you the next!

Well done you, I know that I couldn't do it. Isn't it unwise to kick the dairy being a woman? Osteoporosis and all that? Anyway, what delights have you got for dinner this evening, are you sharing it with anyone? Not sure what I am having, but you have kicked me into action so probably a tuna niscoise as have all the gubbins!

I'm afraid the hummus was made by my darling mother, but I'll get the receipe tonight when I call her

No meat at all and no dairy either so have soya and whole wheat based products instead. Sounds like a hardship (especially as I love nothing better than steaks, and lamb.... oh and sausages!) but it's only for a fortnight just to clense my system. If I get through this one then you're advised to do a 2 week detox every 3 months to kick your system into shape more so than losing weight.

Sweet potato wedges done with a sprinkling of chilli powder, yum. Then some homemade salsa to dip them in!

that sounds really good roastie, could i have your houmous receipe? I wish I could be as dedicated as you, I make sure I have my 5 f&v every day, and keep my portions small and use fat sparingly and never eat sweets or chocolate unless it is "that time", but I could do with a de-tox myself... fool myself with a PJs detox smoothie for breakfast a few times a week, but good on you. I am now inspired to do sweet potato wedges this weekend... are you allowed no meat at all Eek

That all sounds gorgeous Foodieloon. Just just keep on coming with the ideas, I've still another couple of weeks to go.
Don't worry about the carrot sticks, there was also celery and red peppers and a tub of homemade hummus (so I know what went in). and after all that I've still my detox flapjack to munch through. I've never felt so full without feeling bloated before

Oh dear Roastie - carrot sticks? 3 new potatoes is about what I usually have as an accompaniment - as an idea, if you parboil them then halve them and put them beneath the cod then they will absorb the juices as it cooks. Sweet potatoes are fab, bake them and fill with tuna niscoise!

i'm allowed to have new potatoes Big Grin butI'm only allowed 3 with my main course Confused !!! Suppose the answer is to just find the biggest new postatoes possible.

I can have sweet potatoes as these aren't really potato's at all (been eating them for years and only found this out last week).

I'll be fitting right into what the nutritionalists deam as healthy what with everything in the news today about red meat!

Glad you have found some inspiration roasted. If you can eat fish on detox then try steamed cod fillets... pop a cod fillet in a tinfoil parcel with mixed herbs (fresh or dried), lemon juice, garlic and white wine (no need for oil) and bake for about 15 depending on thickness of fillet. I serve this with a bunch of cherry toms on vine roasted with balsamic & olive oil and a rocket salad (plus jersey royals, but don't expect you are allowed them!) Good luck and report back on hols. Thanks - really looking forward to it.

Went home last night and had a stir fry flavoured with ginger - it was scrummy. Also looked through my Jamie O books and I'm making his fresh Tuna with Basil and Corriander tonight served with a nice crisp salad. Once you start looking through the books it's amazing what you can have.

I even made myself some Detox flapjacks with lots of nuts and seeds in and all sugar replaced with honey using only olive oil based magarine (also allowed in small quantites). They're gorgeous but they are there as a treat only - if they're there at all, my Mom has already had 3 to my 1!

Have a nice glass of red wine a day with your evening meal. Good for the heart, anti-carcengenic and is tastier than water... a small glass (about 125ml) is only 85 calories so it is not going to upset the de-tox too much and will keep your tolerance levels up. Means you can enjoy a few drinks on your hols without ending up skinny-dipping in the pool after 1 glass of sangria Wink

Thank you everyone. Will definately be looking at your website suggestion Carol137

As for beers on holiday the answer is yes. Hadn't really thought that this would be bad for me as I go for a long time without alcohol anyway and essentially, from what I cn tell, if a vegan decided to eat very healthily and not drink for a few weeks weeks then the same would happen, but i accept that this is just the way my logic works and therefore is not necessarily the case. What would the alternative be?

Question - Are you going to go for a few beers on holiday after 4 weeks of detox? If, yes that is the worse thing you can do to your body, and I wouldn't even suggest doing it - You're just overloading your heart and body with too much stress otherwise

I would make a nice salad to take in at lunchtime and maybe ratatouille with brown rice for dinner. You wouldn't catch me doing it though Blurgh - just be careful on the pumpkin seeds... Fiona Phillips from GMTV had a really nasty experience. You could also make vegetable curry and stirfrys I guess? HTH
