Steam Cleaners, can you recommend one ?

Thread Starter: Essex Girl    Started: Sun 05 Jun 2005    Replies: 13

I need something that will get the shower really clean, not only the tiles and glass doors but all the corners etc where all these bathroom sprays say they clean but don't.Does anyone use one that they could recommend,or maybe not.Do they really work? I Hate cleaning the shower, that's why I get the OH to do it, but I would like to be able to make the job easier for him.Give a man something electrical and he's happy.Sorry, I know I should have put this on "off the menu" as it's not really to do with cooking, but it would have soon disappeared under all those games etc.

After looking around 3 of the larger electrical stores with no luck I went into Homebase and saw a Karcher steam cleaner which looks ok.Just waiting for the next 10 per cent off day. Thanks for all your advice.

I've got a Polti which is brilliant for steam cleaning and I've got the iron attachment which almost makes ironing a pleasure. Not cheap but I love it.

Thanks Scarlet Witch for your reply with the info as to how it works.Yes they do look easy to use on tv don't they, but then they do want to sell as many as possible.I have looked on e bay and saw the morphy richards, is it the one called grimebuster?I shall look round the shops in the week but if anybody has any more information good or bad I would still like to hear from you.Thankyou.

That would depend on the inside of your freezer, if it is silver metal then yes I would try it, but if it is white plastic the oil could affect it so not such a good idea.

hi sue, it is a good tip, i also read somewhere that when you have just defrosted it, wipe the inside with oil, and the ice will come off so much easier next time, i'm going to try that one myself!

I've seen them on the shopping channel, they looked so easy to use,(but so does their excersise equipment!) lol
I might get one too, my bathroom soon starts to look mouldy in patches, and i always use bleach and a toothbrush, what a pain! Big Grin

I got mine from Kays catalogue as it was on special at the time.

The way it works is that the steam losenes the dirt and grime and then you just wipe it away with a cloth. It is not like the carpet steam cleaners/shampooers you hire where it sprays out water and then sucks it up again.

It simply means that instead of using strong cleaners and chemicals you just steam to release the grime.

Scarlet Witch,I once saw a demonstration of a cleaner on a shopping channel, they were cleaning an oven and I remember thinking, what happens to the dirty steam/water, is it messy and did you buy your cleaner from one of the big stores?

I know what you mean Essex Girl.

I have a Goblin Seamatic Pro 4.0, I love it, I use it to clean my carpets, defrost my fridge, clean my worktops and cooker and my bathroom. We even used it to strip the wallpaper that had been emulsioned over in the bathroom.
