CAN ANY ONE TELL ME WERE TO GET NEW CLOTH COVERS FOR THE QUEST STEAM MOP :

Hi from Australia. I bought an Amazing Bullet last week from ebay. I've used it about 4 times for baby's food and thought it was great. Today though, even after using it very carefully, and with very soft cooked food, the rubber wheel on the bottom of the cutter AND the plastic wheel in the base unit totally shaved off (after a few goes of trying to get it to work without the two parts rubbing together too much). When lifting the cup off the base unit to stop the whiz, the two interlocking wheels would rub together. It is now totally useless and I can't get my money back. Has this happened to anyone else?

Hi - I bought mine from Woolies and am very pleased with it. I am a keen cook and use it quite a lot. I have not put it on my foodblog as yet, but will do in the future, as I review kitchen gadgets as well as cooking from lots of books. See my foodblog [link]

Can anyone who has an Amazing Bullet tell me if it's ok to crush ice in it? I've read the discussions that have been going on about this product and it sounds as though some of you have used it for this, but does it ruin the blades eventually? If so, I'll avoid crushing ice as it also sounds like spares are awkward to get hold of! Thanks.

The Super Chopper from JML or Robert Dyas is just the same. £19.99, and it is brilliant. 700 watt motor. Nippy little thing.

I rushed putting the ingredients into my Bullet and as soon as I started it the drive cog on the base and the one under the blade wore each other away within seconds. These were already partly worn by pulsing. When I unscrewed the blade I found the sealing gasket had wound around the blade shaft and locked it solid causing the damage. As you say in your post above, User Error.
I am now trying to get replacements and if successful will only use it as follows:
1. Always check the seal is properly in place.
2. As in your post above. Switch off the wall socket and lock the blade fully to the base and then use the wall switch to control the machine. On to blend and On Off, On Off to pulse.
I had always regarded the plastic drive cogs as the weakest part of this device because they always seemed to wear each other when pulsing but I had never thought of using the wall socket switch to control it.
Thanks again for this superb tip.

Hi Alex
The only problems I can remember reading about in this thread (and I havent re-read it to make sure) are
1. Problems with seals being caught up in the blades and therefore getting shredded. The people who have done this (myslef included) will probably admit to not fitting the seals correctly in the first place. User error.
2. Overheating. In the book that comes with it it tells you to belnd for 10 seconds pulses. It tells you not to blend for 1 munite solid. The user did and it stopped working, but when it cooled down again it worked. User error.
3. The connecting 'grip' between the cup and base unit getting worn. This happened to me and I know it was thru me using it incorrectly. When 'oulsing' food I no longer push and life the cup, i use the plug socket to create the same on / off effect.
Spare seals can be bought on eBay quite cheaply and I but a new base unit, a new flat blade and a new cross blade for £5 each from Thame direct.
Still a cheap, good investment in my opinion.
Carl.

Hi, I've looked at the posts here and frankly there seems to be lots of talk of probems with spare parts, surely it should work for some time before you get problems. I saw one here in Poland for about 18 pounds, but I'd NEVER be able to get spare parts. So ultimately - is it worth it? And if so are the Magic and Amazing the same? I'm not sure which one was for sale.

Hi,
I really need to use this cos since getting it all i have done is make cream, chop up frozen fruit, onions and grate hard cheese. Cannot crush ice. tried it once, didn't work too well. Probably put too much in and the noise woke my daughter.
Ok, Hints and tips will be greatly received...

Hi Vants,
Did the unit seem to have no power? If so there is probably a thermal cut off and leaving it to cool will allow it ot work again...
On another note on speed.. I am well impressed by the speed it can whip a tub of cream. The trick is listening to the noise. Too long and you can mix it too much.

The manual says do not spin for anything like a minute in one go. The unit is designed to do its job in seconds.
Using it non stop for anything over 30 seconds is asking for the motor to burn out!!
Hope that helps and RTFM ;o)
