Bottle birthday cake

Thread Starter: Imogen    Started: Wed 11 May 2005    Replies: 3

I need help... it's my friend's birthday on Saturday and so I am planning to make her a cake in the shape of a bottle. I've bought the icing and colouring that I need but am stumped as to how I should make the bottle! Should I bake layers of cake and then cut them out to a template or should I make the main part of the bottle in a loaf tin? If anyone can help me with this one I would really appreciate it!

Thank you thank you lovely people! I think I'll go with the loaf tin idea as I have a large loaf tin and a small one so I'm hoping that they will make a good bottle shape. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks again for the help Big Grin

Yep. I'm with Nick. Two loaf tins end to end would give you the general long, thin shape, then sparingly shave away with a sharp knife until you're left with the bottle shape. Maybe have a bottle right next to you so you can compare as you go. Good luck!!

Back to simple old Nick again :)

Make a square cake or two depending on what you need and then after cooking it, cut the shape out as required and cover in marzipan, icing or whatever to hide the cuts etc. You can also do this for Xmas tree shaped cakes etc
