PROPER yorkshire curd for cheesecakes

Thread Starter: piddy    Started: Fri 22 Apr 2005    Replies: 3

I live in HULL and cannot get proper yorshire curd. I know Losely Farm do one that Adsa used to stock but that was the last place. I would be happy to get it by post if possible.
This Yorkshire lass is desperate.
Thanks
Sheila

Hello Sheila -

You may not want to go to the trouble of making it yourself, but there is a Rick Stein recipe on the BBCFood site for a Yorkshire Curd Tart where he explains how to make the Curds. Might be worth a look.

Just saw James martin visiting Betty's in york, and he pointed to yorkshire curd cakes, reminded me of this thread.
Sadly, didn't catch the rest of the program, but he was re creating some of the Betty recipes, eg welsh rarebit.

My ex mother in law used to make her own curds using rennet. Don't know if you will be able to find a recipe for it. Good luck - I love yorkshire curd cake but haven't had it for years.
