Hi Essex Girl and Rustie

Thanks for your replies - must have been having a senior moment on the prune front - now I remember that it was a fat replacement, so Jem has to live without cakes for the time being! Mind you, she has told me today that all she craves is a cheese sandwich!

Yes I agree with Essex Girl, have seen prune puree used as a replacement for fat, well reducing the amount needed, but not sugar. I should think that if your daughter can't have sugar or fruitrose, then natural sugar as found in prunes, or any other fruit, would also be out?

Or is natural sugar/fruitrose ok? Not sure of this.

Karen7,sorry but I don't think this will help you with your problem,butI have an article out of a newspaper which says that prune puree can be used as a substitute for fat in cakes. So if someone is on a diet they can use the puree weight for weight instead of the marg or butter.To make the puree blend 8oz stoned prunes with 6tbs water.As many people know prunes are very healthy.
