We're obviously having a lemony weekend, Fordy1, here it was a straightforward victoria sponge but with lemon zest and sandwiched with lemon curd, mmmm... Mary's so good to us! Smile
Haven't actually made that meringue roulade, I'll have to give it a go one of these days. Cheeky

Haven't made Mary's roulade, Gaye, but I've made one from my Good Housekeeping Chocolate book loads of times. Dead easy and stunningly tasty too. V good the next day when it goes a bit fudgy! Tongue

Wotcha Fordy1 Big Grin

Absolutely yummy, yes, thanks.

Changed the recipe a bit, to suit lovely husband and Dad who, although loving the caramelly-bit, don't like it too thick.
So, doubled the base quantity (using some cornflour and ground rice in place of some of the flour) and used an 8 inch square tin as well as the swiss-roll-type. Only used 1 tin of condensed milk and bunged in some golden syrup to the caramel.
This is just the way the chaps like it- I s'pose this way they get more shortbread to eat, the crafty things! Develish

What tasty treat are you planning on making next? Cheeky

I haven't made that for ages, Fordy1, thinking about it now reminds me how delicious it really is. I think I'll have to buy some condensed milk pretty soon. Big Grin

Big Grin I made Mary Berry Millionaire Shortbread today and it is absolutely fantastic so I am told!. Worth the effort of stirring the condensed milk to required consistency!! Cool

Many thanks for the replies, however these leaves are no good for decoration as they resemble dried mixed herbs, they are crushed so small.
