I used to grow lemon verbena in my garden (needs protecting in the winter though as it suffers the frost)and used the leaves to make a lemon verbena liquor. Also great for herbal teas - just soak the leaves in boiling water. Think the plant is easy to come by at most garden centres.

Lemon verbenna is easy to grow - you should be able to buy seeds in your local garden centre (or try Wilkinsons if you have one near you - their seeds are a lot cheaper!). No, you can't use it instead of lemon grass, sorry. Would love to see your handstands at midnight, suemc!!

Don't really know. May not be sturdy enough for stir fries-more for infusing gently I think. By the way it's the weekend, I can do handstands by midnight-swiftly followed by a trip to a&e

Lemon verbena is a culinary herb also called Aloyisia triphylla or Lippia citrodora if you want to ask for it at a garden centre. Not that easy to come by but you could always try searching the web for suppliers, fresh is probably better than dried. An alternative is lemon balm-easier to get hold of.
