carr flour

Confused hi all
can anyone please tell me what carr flour is?.i have a reciepe for low fat cheese sce it calls for carr flour .thank you for any help.

It was a Delia thing - I bought a bag when the show was first shown (Sainsburys sell it as sauce flour). Its great if you are on a low fat diet - but then I ruined it by adding loads of cheese. Never mind every little helps. Big Grin

When making a white/cheese sauce I just use cornflour and milk, no butter.

Hi Martin, it's carrs sauce flour. Not sure if it's 250g or 500g bags it comes in. My local Tesco sells it. You whisk it into milk and bring it to the boil and it thickens. I bought it when I was trying to diet, but it doesn't quite do the trick when you put a big handful of gorgeous mature cheddar into it Develish Develish

I think that it may be a flour that is used to thicken sauces. I believe it is one that Deliah recommended.

hi sarah i thought that may be the answear,thank you i thought it strange to read thjs name reciepes usually call white brown malt etc not brand names Cool

Hi Martin. I think its a brand name. Was it a recipe in a promotional feature? Carr's mill do a wide range of flours.
