I have one of these family size cookers. Think it is morphy richards, bought it mail order so didn't realise it was so big. Think it is about 6.5 litres. I tried to cook chops with a sauce in it, i just covered the chops with liquid and it all dried out. I didn't want to have loads of gravy, any ideas? It is an oval shape and I originall wanted it so as I could cook chicken, brisket ham etc as my other one was too small. It also says to completely cover any joints of meat or poultry which I think is strange because I never did it before Confused

i put veg in my stews but you have to make sure they are no bigger than about an inch cubed and are of uniform size as they won't cook properly, but i wouldn't be without my slow cooker.

Hi tan1 they are brilliant would not be without mine it will do any kind of meat, if it is the cheaper cut ie braising steak or stewing etc they will be as tender as the best cuts, put it on high when you get up and before you go out to work put the meat in I usualy put gravey granuals in with the water turn down to auto lid on and forget about it till you get home. I dont put any veg in mine unless I blanch them first they dont cook as good as the meat dont know why. If you are doing a joint or chicken just put a small amount of water on the bottom dont cover your meat not like you do with braising steak or stewing steak. I have had mine for 17 yrs good luck with yours. Also try some of the recipe in slow cooker book

you can also type in "slow cooker recipes" at the top search bar and go to an old thread...several of us posted a few recipes on it and answered the question about how much liquid....LESS THAN YOU'D THINK!!! best of luck!
