Always buy a wedge of Parmasan, the grated stuff does not taste anything like the real thing.

Not being rude but my DH thinks the packet stuff smells like puke! So that says it all. Cheeky

Hi Anne, I would suggest you contact a cheese specialist. La Fromagerie in London will help you out and if you google for italian cheese there are british made and Italian alternatives who deliver what ever amount you want. I would also ask the same as Ross, how many baskets are you making!! Sounds very industrious. Smile

Have you tried asking at your nearest large supermarket to see if they would be prepared to do you a special order? Has to be worth a try I would have thought.

Never never never buy tinned grated parmesan! Having lived in Italy for some years, you will never find this product here - why ? because it tastes nothing like the real stuff. I use Grana usually as it's cheaper but tastes similar, but you can't beat Parmigiano. Even the 'cheap' shops like Aldi sell Parmigino I think.I understand that you need a lot, maybe try an Italian website where they will post it to you. I usually pay in Italy €14.00 per kilo, this should give you a price guide.

Having taught and holidayed in Tuscany for many years, I can't understand your request! Even the lower grade of cheese that is Grana Padano is streets ahead of tinned 'Parmesan'..
Little and better
