Thanks.

I always used to make my own stock but now realise I don't anymore, but nor do I use cubes etc either, I just don't seem to use stock anymore. Eating habits, along with everything else, have changed I suppose.

You cheats! I'm going to try that idea at home now. Can't get away with it in the kitchen at work. I've always made my own fish stock because when the boats come in they give me so much.A bit fed up with my home smelling of fish when I'm making stock though and with so many house guests. Good one Georgie and terry.

Hi Georgie, sorry for taking so long to answer - a few problems. Now that you have mentioned it, I believe it was seeing Nigella caressing the nicely shaped bottle that first drew my attention to it.

Now just need to imagine Nigella swearing!!

Hi Terry - yes, that is exactly what I meant, it is great stuff. I agree with jaybee that it is expensive but you are right that you don't need a lot and it lasts ages in the fridge. Nigella Lawson swears by it!

I second that terryDox - lovely stuff, and I too add a little to my home made stocks - quite expensive, although you dont need a lot.

Hi Georgie, if that is the Touch of Taste range that is what I use too. Even if I am making my own beef or chicken stock in the pressure cooker I will add a little of the appropriate Touch of Taste to the pot. Really good stuff.

I don't make my own fish stock but rather than buying stock cubes, try the liquid fish stock in small bottles (if the supermarket sells it, it will be by the stock cubes). It is a concentrated fish bouillon with far better flavour than cubes.

All major supermrkets sell it. Right next to Knor beef stock cubes.Cannot tell you what it's like though as I have never tried it.
