Cutting Tools

Thread Starter: Mich1    Started: Sun 23 May 2004    Replies: 7

Please help, I am desperate to purchase the half moon cutting tool Nigella uses instead of a knife. It has handles on either side. Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of it and I have never seen it shops. Is it available only on-line?.

If you have access to cable or sky channels one of the shopping channels regularly sells a modern mandolin that has safety features that mean you don't chop the tips off your fingers !

Mich1, if you're anywhere near a branch of John Lewis, try them, as a mezzaluna is nowhere near as expensive as that. I haven't looked at mandolins, but I'd be surprised if they were that dear too.

There's also a couple of very good kithcen shops in Tonbridge Wells, if that's any closer?

Back to simple old Nick again :)

Find a catering shop and you should be able to get yourself a good Mandolin for £55 - Depending on size really

Thank you so much for your help. I shall try on- line but I am finding it hard enough to buy a Mandolin under £90 so I shall try Lakeland first.

Thank you

Indeed, a mezzaluna (half moon). Mich1, you should be able to easily obtain one from any good cooks' shop & the bigger department stores. Even easier, from the comfort of your own computer chair, over the 'net. Try the sites like Lakeland & others you can see advertized on this site. We have 2 mezzaluna: a single bladed & a double bladed. They are enormously handy & very satisfying to use. :-)

Bijou-

It's called something like "Mezzaluna" I think.
