Birthday Party food

Thread Starter: KOOKIE    Started: Tue 18 May 2004    Replies: 4

I have to cook a buffet for 30 people for a 21st birthday party. I want something that can be prepared in advanced and then put in oven when required. Any ideas??

A big fish pie with prawns ,salmon and/or scallops
to add a bit of luxury is always popular and can be easily heated up on the day. A meat casserole like a giant lasagne, chillie pasta bake, or a spicy chicken casserole could be a second dish. Jacket potatoes are easy for a party. Otherwise you will have to cook a load of rice at the last minute. Lots of hot bread and a luxury green salad( avacado, beans, artichokes included) is all you need. Pavlovas are great party desserts and then a large Cheese board. Then some birthday cake!

Thanx. I'm looking for hot food, but not finger food because its expensive and a bit 'typical'.

Are you looking for 'plated' food or finger buffet type things? Does it have to be hot or can it be cold?

There was a thread on here recently about food for a 50th birthday and there were lots of ideas on there for a hot plated buffet.

What about putting chicken pieces in a good marinade (I like barbecue or chinese) until you are ready. You can do them the night before.
