What else can I do with asparagus apart from serve it with butter or make it in to soup?
This time of year I get it from a local farm and its field fresh but I also freeze it, so any ideas but as long as they don't involve anything tomato or vegetable stock they will be welcomed.

Grilled fillet steak, topped with pan fried prawns (in butter) and steamed asparagus then finally topped with buttery parmesan sauce. Just serve with a green salad - and a nice glass of red wine!

A combination of what everyone else has said is my fave!! Pop some larger spears on a baking sheet and glug with some Balsamic, pop on some salt and dot with butter... mmmm!!!
I like it as above with a squeeze of fresh orange and a little zest too but the Mrs said it wasn't as nice!! Each to their own I suppose!!

Asparagus wrap up in Bacon like Martino said and then roasted in the oven...Asparagsus is one of my favorite veg.

Over on the Delia Online site (hush my mouth!) there are also a lot of Asparagus recipes.I can certainly recommend the Asparagus and Cheese Tart it is lovely. I do her Trofie with potatoes and beans but I use Asparagus also when it is in season.. it is to die for.. and was one of the dishes of the day about three days ago. Definitely worth trying.

try frying in butter and at the end throwing in balsmic vinegar. Serve with fried eggs and parmesan shavings
or
Wrap it in bacon
or
Boil it and dip it in soft boiled eggs as soldiers

I love them just roasted in a pan with some olive oil, salt, pepper.....maybe a little chopped garlic...
