Fillings for Homemade Pasties

Thread Starter: Trunkie    Started: Thu 08 Apr 2004    Replies: 10

I am thinking about having a go at making some pasties at home with various fillings.

I know the usual, i.e. beans, cheese, onion, beef, chicken etc, but was wondering if anyone else had any other ideas for fillings.

There are a few recipes on this site which sound quite interesting. Pumpkin & cheddar cheese. Spiced Lamb. Salmon and dill, etc.

How's about the classic combination of feta cheese, spinach & nutmeg? I've made it in filo pastry, served it in a puff pastry base but haven't tried it in a pasty yet.

Yes snoozy, just a little imagination and everything you like to eat. Not sure if I would like banana and chocolate though insanitybomb.

cant say i know a recipe as such, but on holiday in cornwall last year we found the most fantastic little pastie shop in looe. we tried all the pasties and my favourite (though they were all great) was minted lamb and leek. i swear it was heavenly, if i could find a recipe or create one... the mint didnt overshadow the leek or lamb and vice versa it was just really tasty, just a suggestion for you to think about.
