What with steak?

Has anyone any any ideas of what to cook with a nice juicy steak, but must be something different from the usual chips etc.?

something I had in Montreal, and make it as often as I can now.
Warm fried potato salad:
Par-boil potatoes and leave to cool, 2tbsp of oil and crushed garlic, fry potatoes until crisp and brown, while piping hot add fried potatoes and iceberg lettuce to a bowl season with salt and cracked pepper, the lettuce should be thinly sliced this will allow it to wilt in and make warm potato salad.
Mushroom Cream-Steak:
Cover the steak very liberal with freshly cracked coxxxx pepper.
Dry fry steak on high heat cook how you like it, I think it works well blue, rest the meat, turn the hob down and add 1 tsp of oil crushed garlic and slowly fry the sliced mushrooms, still retaining the charred flavour from the cooked steak in the pan, once mushrooms have fried down, add cream, I use single, but it's your choice.
Season with salt and pepper.
Well that's my ultimate steak dinner, wich I don't get to eat that often as my wife hates beef :(

Chrisy,
by far the most imaginative way of cooking the good old spud is Bluxom's? Choux Potato Kiev (just do a search on this site). Don't bother frying them, just whack them in an oven on 200c for 1/2 hour or untils they look like large golden profitte rolls. Lovley and runcy on the bottom, taste combination of Garlic doug balls, choux pastry and mash, the liquid garlic centre is subline (exactly as the title suggests, remind you of a chicken kiev. btw make the potaote quite dry or they tend to loose their shape, and the butter leaks out!

Casserole of potatoes. this potatoe dish is so tasty it goes well with any meat. You slice potatoes not to thickly and they are cooked in layers with sliced onions and greated cheddar cheese, (cooked in an ovenproof shallow dish) .Fill to just above the potatoes with half milk and half cream. Salt and Pepper to taste.

Mustard mash is lovely with steak as it is fairly robust. I like madeira sauce and there are a few good recipes on this website. I also love onion rings with steak. Not very classy but delicious!

Hi CHRISY, I went very basic but with a nice twist last year, we had steak, mustard mash, stilton sauce with sauted leeks in butter with good old garden peas, it was really nice and tasty for a change.
Now Ive mentioned it I think I will do it again.
Take care Andy.
