They are on sale in England but obviously not as big as the commercial ones. The ones I've seen are made of thin plywood and are about four times the size of a table tennis bat with a foot-long handle.
Try Scott and Sargeant in Horsham, or Divertimenti in London.

Do you have an ethnic or Chinese supermarket near to you? I have seen peels on the shelf in town recently.

Paula, if you look on Agas website www.agacookshop.co.uk they have a 'Bakers Paddle' for £22.95 which I think is just what you are looking for.

Actually on closer inspection on the internet I have found if I put "Pizza Peels" ( adding the "S")there are several websites in the UK. Priced at about £10.00 I think that's quite a bargain

Well you learn something new every day.
Perhaps someone who works in wood could make you one.
I once had a lovely large flat paddle to use in the jampan rather like a spurtle and this was made by a wood worker. They seem to like a challenge.

A pizza peel (or a pizza paddle) is the thing that you slide under your pizza to move it in and out of the oven.

They sort of look a bit like a garden shovel, with a flat blade rather than curved at the edges like a garden shovel, if you see what I mean and can have either long or medium handles. They're usually made of wood, altho you can get metal ones.

I've only seen them for sale on US websites as well.

Sorry Paula can you enlighten me as to what a pizza peel is?
Not an expression I am familiar with.
