Basics & essentials in the cupboard...

Thread Starter: SERider    Started: Mon 02 Nov 2009    Replies: 1

Hi all,

New here and hoping you can offer some foody advice. But not sure if this is the right bit of the site to post in...

Recently moved out of marital home (won't go into details but it's not going to be changed) but now am living in a very spxxxx flat. Now I enjoy cooking fresh things from scratch but the cupboards are very bare.

So was wondering what are the basics/essentials you would recommend having in the cupboard so you can make a wide variety of meals quickly. Working to a limited budget (saffron can wait for example) but I'm sure I'll miss some obvious things.

Got Salt, Pepper, pasta, chopped tomatoes, olive & veg oil, tuna, dried herbs so far. These are just things off the top of my head.

All input appreciated. I realise it's a bit unusual for a random to come here & post this kind of thing, but that's why I love the internet's anonymity!

Cheers,
SE Rider
