Selection panel and judges

We are very happy to have these highly capable and qualified professionals on our Local Food Hero 2009 Selection and Judging panels. However the names may have to change due to unforeseen circumstances between now and the selection and judging dates. If this is the case we apologise for any inconvenience but do check the website for any changes before you enter in case a change of names might alter your eligibility.

Once voting ends...
After voting ends on 7 August 2009, those 10 businesses from each region with the most votes will be assessed by our selection panel; Janice Gabriel, Andrew Webb, and Caroline Stacey. The panel will shortlist three businesses from each region based on how closely they feel the candidates meet the criteria.

What happens next?
Market Kitchen’s very own Matt Tebbutt and Matthew Fort will, between them, visit the three shortlisted businesses in each of the 10 regions and present a feature on Market Kitchen later this year.

Judging panel
A panel of expert judges will then assess the strengths of each business and choose one winner from the 10 regions. This year's panel are Thomasina Miers, Michael Caines, Brian Turner, Allegra McEvedy, and William Sitwell.

The winner
All 10 regional winners will be invited to appear on Market Kitchen. The overall national winner - the business that most closely meets the criteria will be announced on the show and will receive a fabulous trophy and £5000 to celebrate their achievement.
