hi snowlight, thanks, i will try that. I will also try roasting chicken, which i thought wouldnt work in a slow cooker.

Can someone tell me where I went wrong with my slow cooker. I bought a slow cooker afew weeks ago and cooked a joint of beef on its own, on the slow cook setting, went out for the day for 8 hours, came home and the beef was burst and nearly on fire. Is my slow cooker faulty or did i need to add liquid.
